State Of The Union: FukD?

There are a few prisms you can view our state of the union. The way I am feeling, I cannot look through the optimistic view. I want to believe the country is on the right track. Democrats hold The Presidency, and both houses, the stimulus is being spent, but it seems much more can be done. The President has let his opposition define the narrative of his Presidency. Tonight he has the opportunity re tell the story of how we got here, who is to blame and where we are going from here. He needs to declare war on corporations and their minions serving in congress calling themselves Republicans. But it is not just on the other side of the aisle, they are within our own ranks and will be defeated. Senator Ben Nelson is one of these masters of disguise. The President cannot pussy foot around the issues and ask for bipartisanship or comprise. The opposition and a few in your own party has proven to be unwilling to work for the country.

“Brand Obama is about being happy consumers. We are entertained. We feel hopeful. We like our president. We believe he is like us. But like all branded products spun out from the manipulative world of corporate advertising, this product is duping us into doing and supporting a lot of things that are not in our interest.”--

Andy Stern, SEIU President has the right tone when describing corporate friendly legislatures, “TERRIOSTS.” Which is a suiting term for these Benedict Arnold's, they have destroyed our country and will continue to erode any progress The President makes. The message needs to include corporation friendly policies lead to unequal societies. America has became an unequal society. Simply rich got richer and the poor got poorer. The President needs to explicitly say the Republican, corporate friendly removal of regulations brought us this economic disaster and the way to move forward is to start trust busting, and break up the monopolies the transnational corporations have on each and every aspect of our lives. I know this is expecting a lot, like telling the truth when you are suppose to but have everything to gain if you lie and deceive.

Purposing a SPENDING FREEZE has been called disastrous and compared to Hubert Hoover policy of corporate voluntarism. Thats right, Hoover asked corporations to volunteer to help create jobs. Obviously not included in the freeze is the ANY OF THE PENTAGON BUDGET! Veteran Affairs, social security, Medicare and medic-ad.

“Barack Obama is a brand. And the Obama brand is designed to make us feel good about our government while corporate overlords loot the Treasury, armies of corporate lobbyists grease the palms of our elected officials, our corporate media diverts us with gossip and trivia, and our imperial wars expand in the Middle East. Brand Obama is about being happy consumers. We are entertained. We feel hopeful. We like our president.”-- Chris Hedges Alter NET

It might becoming clear my crazy friends who believe in the Builder Berg group and the New World Order are not so crazy. Their corporate power has been consolidated to an all powerful corporatcy who can buy whole legislatures and the Presidency. With the Supreme Court Citizens United decision, I am tending to lean in thinking all our President have been controlled by a handful of wealthy families and their corporations.

For the time being, I am still hopeful that Barack Obama truly is a statesmen and has the country best interests in the for front of his decision making process. Either way, the Presidency is only one branch of our Republic. Social change movements do not come with out challenges, protests and feathers being ruffled. Progressives have been too bitchy, whiny and not focused on organizing around issues that matter to our democracy. Tonight is a reset, an opportunity to refocus the message, remind the country who got us here and how our President will lead us out. The President needs to play the fear card here, cause it is more than real, our country is at stake. The President needs to focus the populist rage on his opposition and use this rage to build a true progressive movement.
